He was predeceased by his mother and his father, and his sister Etta Johnson. He enjoyed having lunch with his friends on Fridays for more than 25 years at local restaurants in Jefferson City. He frequently exercised at the Capitol Regional sports facility. He loved playing golf with his friends on the Lincoln University golf team. He later retired from the Missouri Department of corrections.
He retired from the Army in 1978, after serving more than 26 years.
He was the first African American to graduate from the “Elite Nuclear Weapons School” in New Mexico. He was a Korean War Vet and served in Europe as a Nuclear Weapons Technician with NATO Forces for 17 years. He was a Master paratrooper with more than 300 parachute jumps. He served with the Elite 101st Airborne Division. He was born on December 14, 1931, in Conway, South Carolina to Henry & Emma Wilson. Robert Charles Wilson, 90 years old, passed away on October 19, 2022, of natural causes, in Sacred Heart Hospital, Miramar Beach, Florida.
